Sony today unveiled its new X-series of smartphones that consists of the Xperia X, XA and X Performance. Despite a new branding, the Xperia X-series of handsets look quite similar to their Z-series predecessors, though Sony says it has made a few design tweaks here and there to make the handsets more ergonomic. To avoid the glass back from cracking, Sony has also switched to plastic panels at the rear of the phone.
The phones also come with a curved glass display to make them a more natural fit into your palm. The Xperia XA also comes with an edge-to-edge display. Sony has improved in key areas which were already considered a strong point of its Xperia Z series of smartphones: camera, battery and design. In the camera department, the company has employed a new Predictive Hybrid Autofocus technology in Xperia X and Xperia X Performance, which the company has developed in close collaboration with engineers that work on the company’s A-series of DLSRs. https://youtu.be/AtUBeFiWi8Q Coming to the battery, all three handsets include a smart battery management system that promises up to two days of battery life. Plus, with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology, they charge faster as well. As their naming scheme suggests, the Xperia X Performance is the most powerful phone of the lot and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset. Meanwhile, the Xperia X comes with a Snapdragon 650 processor, with the Xperia XA coming with a MediaTek MT6755 chipset. The Xperia X and X Performance come with 3GB RAM, while the Xperia XA has 2GB RAM. The Xperia X and Xperia X Performance come with a 5-inch Full HD display, a 23MP rear shooter with Predictive Hybrid AF, 13MP front camera, 32GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. The Xperia XA comes with a 5-inch 720p display and features a 13MP Exmor RS sensor, and an 8MP front shooter. It also features 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The Xperia X Performance and Xperia X come with a 2,700mAH and 2,620mAh battery, while the Xperia XA comes with a 2,300mAh battery. The Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA will be available in White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold colors, and they will start hitting retail stores from Summer 2016.
