According to a report from Focus Taiwan, Sony is looking to extend the retail life of its smartphones through more marketing campaigns with retail and telecom partners. The general manager of Sony Taiwan mobile division, Jonathan Lin, told at a media briefing earlier today that the company will further streamline its product portfolio and focus mainly on mid-range and high-end devices from now. Lin also mentioned that the launch of the purple Xperia Z2 in Taiwan made up nearly 40% of the initial device sales in the region. Additionally, sources of the Xperia Blog are saying that Sony will not be launching a new flagship handset at MWC this year. Instead, the company plans on releasing its next flagship handset in the Summer of 2015. With the lack of leaks and rumors about the Xperia Z4, it is more than likely that the sources of Xperia Blog are correct. Sony has usually operated on a six-month release cycle for its high-end products. While the company is able to rapidly improve its devices this way, such a quick release cycle does not go down well with early adopters.
