While manufacturers of Android smartphones keep churning out new devices every now and then, only Sony makes sure it launches flagship smartphones every few months instead of just mid-range or budget devices. Well, it looks like we could soon see the company continuing the trend. The Japanese manufacturer is sending out invites for a press conference on the first day of MWC 2016 (February 22nd, 8:30 AM CET). Sony doesn’t usually reveal any meaningful information in its invites, and it is the same case this time around. That leaves us to speculate, and it could be that the Xperia Z6 will make an appearance at this particular event, in addition to an upgrade to the Xperia Z Tablet lineup. Sony skipped a flagship launch at MWC 2015 since the Xperia Z4 wasn’t meant to be widely available (the Xperia Z3+ filled that gap), but we could see the company going back to its regular schedule this year. The Xperia Z6 has been heavily rumored despite the fact that the Xperia Z5 lineup hasn’t been available for long, and it’s possible Sony will make the Z6 official at the MWC. Of course, the event could be much less important and only be about a mid-range device and/or an Xperia Z Tablet (which don’t exactly sell well), and we will just have to wait and see what the Japanese OEM is up to.
