As The Hollywood Reporter shows, the film hit the number during its second weekend in theaters, where Sonic the Hedgehog earned just over $26 million, putting its total revenue at $106.6 million.

That amount almost doubles taking into account global revenue. After an additional $38.3 million worldwide this past weekend, Sonic the Hedgehog’s global revenue is over $200 million.

While it’s impressive — especially for a film with a rocky production start — Sonic still lags behind Detective Pikachu ($433 million) and Warcraft ($439 million). Considering those two have been out for much longer, though, we won’t be surprised to see the Sonic film snatch up more records as if they were so many spare rings on its journey to oust the reigning video game film adaptation champions.

And it’s not surprising. In our Sonic movie review, not only did we think Sonic himself is just too adorable for words, but his “tale of loneliness is relatable, and his adventure with Tom to find his rings is one that kids and adults alike can enjoy.”
